Nerd Alert
Dear Syfy Network,
I know that last year you wanted to distance yourself from the nerdy images that your old name, The Sci-Fi Channel, brought to mind in the mass media. Long gone are the hey days of your programing like Farscape, Lexx, and Battlestar Galactica (Though Caprica certainly does put you on the road to redemption). I know the name change gives you a singular and marketable name, but couldn’t you have chosen something a little less… Oh, I don’t know… gay?
Come on, “Syfy” sounds like the stage name of a dorky drag queen! And your main color, Purple, it’s like Tinky Winky spooged all over your logo. I know this is a lot to take in, especially for a network whose main audience, despite the image change, is single males with congenital skin conditions and people who are still stoned after 3 a.m. Hardly the kind of people who would appreciate that fabulous shade of purple you are rocking out too.
You say you are trying to broaden your audience, by that do you mean effeminate Trekkies and Prince fans? Because I totally count as both!
